Program Description

This program provides employees of life science member organizations in Manitoba with the opportunity to develop both general management and industry-specific skills related to leadership.

You will be required to complete 180 contact hours which include:

  • 108 hours of management courses
  • 70 contact hours of leadership development workshops
  • 2 contact hours of one-on-one coaching sessions

You have 6 years from your registration date to complete the program.

Course Requirements

You will be required to complete 180 contact hours which include:

  • 108 hours of management courses
  • 70 contact hours of integral complementary leadership development workshops
  • 2 contact hours of required one-on-one coaching sessions

Course Options:

You or your employer can choose either of these two courses to satisfy the requirement:

  • Managing the Human Resource Function
  • Organizational Behaviour

LSAM Modules: 70 hours of classroom contact time and 2 hours of required one-on-one coaching sessions with Life Science Association of Manitoba (LSAM)

Digital Materials Fee

Certain digital materials such as textbooks, presentations, simulations and general course content must be purchased or licensed from a third party. Since these materials are essential to your learning and overall experience, we charge a fee when a licensed digital material is included in the course to cover the costs. Please note: Digital materials fees are non-refundable.

$100 to apply to the program and $495/$525 per U of M course.

  • HRM 0100 – Managing the Human Resource Function

What is Online Learning?

Online learning is how we offer the course content. The where and when is completely up to you. You’re free to decide the way that you’d like to integrate the classroom into your life, whether you’d like to do the course work on lunch breaks, in bed, or on a picnic table on a leisurely Saturday afternoon. Simply download the course modules, and learn at your own pace. Remember, instructors are still available to help when you need it.

Online courses are delivered through UofM’s online learning management system UM Learn.

How long does it take to complete the program?

You will have 6 years from your registration date to complete the program.

Do I have to take the courses in a specific order?

No.

Can I just enroll in a single course if I'm not interested in the entire program?

Yes, you can enroll in just a single course. Completed courses can later be applied towards a Certificate.

Submit transcripts of the highest level of education you have completed. Student copies or photocopies are not acceptable. Transcripts become the property of University of Manitoba and will not be returned.

Submit any other required supporting documents (e.g., letters of reference, letter of intent).
