Program Description

Seize the opportunity to participate in professional development, and/or fulfil the educational requirement for the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) designation with this innovative program. Originally a part of the project management process, Change Management evolved into a practice over the past few decades to meet organizational needs for implementing change. As a new, or emerging, change management specialist, you can learn key foundation change management practices and skills with courses that align with ACMP standards and meet certification requirements.

Who is the Program for?

The LOA Change Management is ideally suited for you if you wish to incorporate change management into your practice; you are seeking a credential; and/or you are interested in seeking certification with the Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP). It is also applicable to you if you are seeking continuing professional development credits (Project Managers, CIMA, Prince2, Nursing Certification, and HRMAM)

Admission Requirements

Students must possess a High School Diploma or be eligible for admission as a Mature Student to apply.

Program Objectives

As an LOA Change Management graduate, you’ll possess an understanding of the theory and process of change and the practice of change management. Upon completion of the program you will be able to:

  • Develop plans for assessing organization change readiness
  • Apply techniques for change management that support meaningful stakeholder engagement
  • Assess the success of change management programs
  • Identify current culture and strategies for shifting attitudes, behaviours, and organizational norms

Laddering / Transfer Credit Arrangements

Upon successfully completing the LOA, you have the option of applying your courses towards Continuing and Professional Studies certificate programs where applicable.

Professional Association

The ACMP is considered the world leader in change management. The Association of Change Management Professionals (ACMP) will roll out the first of a number of designations (Certified Change Management Professional, CCMP) in 2016. The designation will be based on education, experience, an exam and continuing education credits. Both courses in the LOA will fulfil the continuing education requirement for the designation.

The curriculum will align with ACMP standards and will fulfil the educational requirement for the Certified Change Management Professional (CCMP) being introduced in 2016.

Program Length

The program will take a minimum of two terms to complete. There is no maximum time limit for completion of the LOA.

FAQs

What is a Letter of Accomplishment (LOA)?

The Letter of Accomplishment credential indicates that you have successfully completed an intensive, focused program that addresses the educational requirements for a very precise field of study. Not as broad and exhaustive as a certificate program, an LOA from the University of Manitoba is still held in high regard in the professional community.

What is Online Learning?

Online learning is how we offer the course content. The where and when is completely up to you. You’re free to decide the way that you’d like to integrate the classroom into your life, whether you’d like to do the course work on lunch breaks, in bed, or on a picnic table on a leisurely Saturday afternoon. Simply download the course modules, and learn at your own pace. Remember, instructors are still available to help when you need it.

Online courses are delivered through UofM’s online learning management system UM Learn.

How long does it take to complete the program?

The program can be completed in a minimum of two terms on a part-time basis to accommodate working professionals like you.

Do I have to take the courses in a specific order?

The courses can be taken in any order although we recommend that you start with the Practice of Change Management.

Can I just enroll in a single course if I'm not interested in the entire program?

Yes, you can enroll in just a single course. Completed courses can later be applied towards a Letter of Accomplishment in Change Management.
