Successful Applicant: Emerging Mathematics Instructor Workshop
Led by Darja Kalajdzievska, Department of Mathematics

This workshop was offered to graduate students from across the Prairie provinces who are interested in issues of teaching and learning, and who plan to move into post-secondary teaching positions. The workshop included reading, research, reflection, and writing about issues of undergraduate mathematics education. The students were exposed to a variety of literature from various publications relating to mathematics education, as well as guest speakers who have expertise in the field. The learning environment was interactive, focused on open discussion and group work, and included the opportunity for practice of classroom techniques in front of an audience of peers. Students left the workshop with a deeper knowledge base of theoretical and practical issues of pedagogy and student learning.
