The New Competencies and the Role of Higher Education

Webinar Title: The New Competencies and the Role of Higher Education
Fees: $25 (including GST)
Term: Winter 2018
Dates: February 27, 2018 (11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. CST)
Facilitator: Alan Davis
Description: This webinar will begin with a brief overview of competency based education and its current implementation. The well understood distinction between “hard” and “soft” competencies is fairly well established, although developing and assessing technical competencies seems much more straight forward compared to, for instance, “critical thinking”, which is hard even to define consistently. Then there is the matter of the emerging, new competencies that our graduates will need to in order to be successful in careers, citizenship and further learning as digital, global and other transformations occur in our society. The webinar will provide an opportunity for participants to share thoughts and ideas and useful resources.
